Run a large RS485 network as eight protected branches from one master. The DTECH DT-9028I 8 port RS485 hub has short and open circuit protection on each branch, supports up to 256 nodes per port and detects the baud rate automatically.
The DTECH DT-9028I 8 port RS485 hub lets one master device run eight separate RS485 branches. It turns a single long daisy chain into a star-style network that’s easier to wire, extend and troubleshoot. Each branch supports up to 256 nodes and has its own short and open circuit protection, so a fault on one line stays on that line. It has 2000W surge protection on every RS485 port, automatic baud rate detection and a wide 9–40V DC input, and it’s built for large building management, metering and industrial control networks.
Large RS485 networks are hard to manage as one bus. Every new device adds cable length, and a damaged cable on one floor can take down devices further along the line. Finding the fault then means walking the whole route. This 8 port RS485 hub splits the network into eight independent branches from one master port. You can wire each floor, riser or production line separately and isolate problems quickly.
System integrators, MEP and electrical contractors, facility management teams and industrial engineers use an 8 port RS485 hub wherever one controller needs to reach many devices across a large site. Typical applications include:
| Brand / Model | DTECH DT-9028I |
| Type | 8 port RS485 hub, industrial grade |
| Main port | RS232 / RS485 |
| Branch ports | 8 x RS485 |
| Nodes per port | Up to 256 |
| Baud rate | Adaptive, up to 250 Kbps on branches |
| Conversion | Bidirectional between main and branch ports |
| Collision control | Data collision protection control (DCPC) |
| Branch protection | Individual short and open circuit protection |
| Surge protection | Dual-level, 2000W per line (RS485 ports) |
| ESD protection | 15kV (RS232 main port) |
| Power input | DC 9–40V (DC 9–60V customisable) |
| Indicators | Power and signal status LEDs |
Plan each branch as its own straight bus, running out from the hub to the devices on that floor or line. Use shielded twisted-pair cable, fit termination resistors at the far end of long branches, and keep the A (+) and B (-) polarity the same on every device. Longer branches run more reliably at lower baud rates such as 9600 or 19200. Earth the cable shield at one point only to avoid ground loops. It connects one master device to eight separate RS485 branches, so you can wire a large network as several short lines instead of one long daisy chain.
Each branch has its own short and open circuit protection, so a fault on one line doesn’t affect the other seven.
Each port supports up to 256 nodes, which gives a large capacity across all eight branches.
No. The hub detects the baud rate automatically, with branch rates up to 250 Kbps.
Any DC supply from 9V to 40V, including standard 12V and 24V panel supplies. A 9–60V version is available on request.
