The DTECH DT-5047 2 port RS232 splitter lets one host control two serial devices from a single DB9 port. You can add a second controller, logger or monitoring unit without rewiring, adding a PC or buying extra interface cards. It takes one DB9 male input and splits it into two DB9 female outputs. It passes data at any baud rate with no delay and supports cascaded runs of up to 25 metres.
Many building, security and industrial systems still rely on RS-232 serial control, and most of that equipment has only one serial port. When a second device needs the same data stream, the usual workarounds are costly: a new controller, a USB-to-serial adapter on another PC, or custom software. This 2-port RS232 splitter solves the problem in hardware, in minutes, right at the connector.
System integrators, MEP and electrical contractors and facility management teams use a serial splitter wherever one control source needs to reach two endpoints. Typical applications include:
| Brand / Model | DTECH DT-5047 |
| Type | 2 port RS232 splitter, 1×2 (1 input, 2 outputs) |
| Input | 1 x DB9 male (RS-232 serial) |
| Outputs | 2 x DB9 female (RS-232 serial) |
| Baud rate | Any baud rate supported |
| Protocol | Any protocol format (transparent pass-through) |
| Latency | No transmission delay |
| Transmission distance | Up to 25 m (cascade supported) |
| Design | Full hardware, no driver required |
| Housing | Metal-finish enclosure |
The unit supports two-way communication, which matters when your devices report status back to the host. The host can send to both output ports at the same time. The two connected devices can also reply to the host, but they shouldn’t transmit at exactly the same moment, so allow a short gap between their responses. This suits most poll-and-response control systems, where the host queries each device in turn. If you’re new to serial wiring, these overviews of the RS-232 standard and the DB9 (D-subminiature) connector explain pinouts and signal levels.

No. It’s a full hardware design, so it works with any operating system or control platform and there’s nothing to install.
The host can send to both devices at once, but the two devices should respond at different times. Poll-and-response systems handle this automatically.
The splitter supports cascading, with a maximum output transmission distance of 25 metres.
Yes. The DT-5047 supports any baud rate and any protocol format and passes data through untouched.
