This is the correct wiring for connecting a PC COM port to a modem, router, PLC, barcode scanner, cash drawer, label printer, industrial sensor or any other device whose documentation specifies a straight-through serial cable. The RS-232 standard as defined by the TIA/EIA specifies DB9 (DE-9) as the standard connector for PC serial ports — both male connectors on the DT-9005A mate directly with DB9 female ports on equipment.
